Bean Harvest in Progress

Weather is the big story impacting this year’s bean harvest in Michigan, the Minnesota/North Dakota region and Nebraska.

At the time of this writing, harvest in Michigan is slightly behind with some evidence of uneven growth due to an abundance of rain. Yields could be slightly lower than last year, quality looks good with more specifics available at a later date.

North Dakota/Minnesota harvests are nearly complete and ahead of schedule with good quality, and the Nebraska harvest should be nearing completion as of this writing. Nebraska bean yields are average with very good quality. We will see some supply and pricing shifts in this next year but we are expecting another very good year for US dry bean exports.
