  • New timing for import quotas to Dominican Republic may impede US dry bean sales. Quota timing has been curtailed in violation of CAFTA agreement, USDBC working with FAS/Santo Domingo to resolve.

  • USDBC’s new 2017 Global Based Initiatives program to promote bean based snack foods in South Asia has been approved by our partners at USDA/FAS, we’ll continue to find new opportunities for exports in this dynamic region.
  • New labeling rule in Japan requires country of origin designation, this will include bean pastes made with U.S. origin product. USDBC Japan rep ensuring this causes no market disruptions.
  • USDA’s FAS office in The Hague recently informed our EU rep that dry bean consumption is up 12 % in the Netherlands. Our EU rep has been targeting this market.
