The U.S. Dry Bean Council looks forward to reporters' and editors' queries. Whether questions are related to bean production, sourcing, export hunger donations, or miscellaneous, other agricultural-related questions, as well as wholesale, retail or culinary topics, the USDBC staff has the answers. And, from farm gate to the dinner plate, the USDBC can source facts and photos to help members of the press complete any assignment related to dry beans.
The USDBC is a private trade association comprised of leaders in the bean industry with the common goal of promoting the U.S. edible bean trade, both in the United States and abroad. The association educates consumers, health professionals, educators and the media about the good taste, nutritional value and versatility of beans.
The organization’s mission is to increase the consumption of U.S. dry beans and to help improve the health of consumers worldwide. To support its mission, the USDBC promotes the fact that bean consumption reduces the risks of chronic diseases including colon cancer, heart disease and type 2 diabetes. In developing countries, the USDBC demonstrates that the regular consumption of beans can improve child nutrition and child survival, and also may slow the progression of HIV/AIDS. The organization also supports scientific research to determine the roles of biologically active compounds in beans, which may contribute to improved human nutrition and health, and educates public health officials around the world about the health benefits of beans.
