The Global Pulse Confederation’s (GPC) annual gathering of the comprehensive worldwide pulse value chain took place May 7 – 10, 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. USDBC had two delegates in attendance this year and as in previous years, was invited to attend the Executive Committee meeting. After attending the Executive Committee meetings as an observer for many years, USDBC was named as a voting member at this year’s convention. This will allow for a greater level of participation in this important global forum.

A critical theme at this year’s convention was the introduction of the Colombo Accord, a new initiative designed to ensure the elimination of global trade barriers to the pulse trade. The accord is based on four principles that seek to enforce a transparent, unified, enabling environment for pulse trade transactions. The document is still in draft form at this time and we plan to discuss it in greater detail as part of the CICILS report at our summer board meeting.
