bean industry to be able to conduct its board meetings and gather with the Mexican

trade to celebrate numerous concurrent events such as; the signing of the U.S. Mexico Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA), World Pulses Day, and the long standing partnership with Mexican buyers. As in previous years, attendance was high with over 150 buyers, traders, and industry representatives present.
During the seminar portion of the Congress, speakers discussed World Pulses Day, new trends with beans and bean based ingredients, U.S. and Mexico bean production trends, and an overview of the Mexican political panorama under new President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) and his new agricultural support program. Projections indicate that this will be a good year for U.S./Mexico dry bean trade and business should be brisk. We will continue to monitor and report on the new dry bean price support program and potential impact on our export prospects.

Congress Attendees Participate in One on One Networking Meetings

Post event surveys indicate that 322 business networking meetings took place and over $5 million in business transactions took place (we are still tabulating surveys). 2020 will be our 25th Mexico Bean Congress and we have a special program planned including the participation of several Mexican VIPs, thanks to support from FAS’s ATP program. A full Congress report will be issued shortly. We will see everyone in 2020 in Cancun.
