The stage is set for World Pulses Day at the Mexico Bean Congress

We were very excited to have the opportunity to celebrate World Pulses Day during our Mexico Bean Congress in Cancun on February 8 & 9. World Pulses Day (WPD) began with the momentum from the International Year of Pulses (IYOP) in 2016. After a recent formal declaration from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Pulses Day will now be observed and celebrated on February 10 every year.
During the Mexican Bean Congress we featured World Pulses Day as the overall theme for our event.  This was complemented by presentations on the occasion to heighten awareness of this unprecedented opportunity to enhance our outreach and encourage greater consumption of US dry beans. We also made sure to have some fun during the reception portion of the Congress with a bean themed event. Other pulse day themed events took place all over the world, sponsored by different international members of the Global Pulse Confederation (GPC). We will continue to collaborate with our colleagues at GPC as we plan for a bigger celebration of World Pulses Day 2020, as part of our USDA/FAS funded ATP program.
