SECOND TRANCHE OF ATP FUNDING WILL ALLOW FURTHER MARKET EXPANSION

USDBC has received a second tranche of global export promotion funding under USDA’s Agricultural Trade Promotion (ATP) program. The second allocation of $615,000 is in addition to the first tranche of $1.4 million. To date, USDBC has received a total of just over $2 million in new ATP funding. Together with our annual allocation of MAP, FMD and Emerging Markets funding, we have now doubled our global export promotion funding to over $4 million.
The goal of the ATP program is to help us expand to new markets and new market segments around the world, as we work to resolve ongoing trade issues that have had a negative impact on some of our largest export markets. We remain very concerned about export declines in the EU and Mexico, and continue to work with our government and trade partners to find a resolution. This includes pushing for immediate ratification of the US, Mexico, Canada trade agreement (USMCA). At the same time, we have already launched new US dry bean promotion programs in Brazil, Turkey, Central America, and throughout Southeast Asia. This is in addition to ongoing global programs funded through FAS. This has been a very challenging time for our industry and we are grateful for USDA/FAS support as we work to create new trade flows and reestablish previous flows. Stay tuned for news about upcoming events this year and beyond.
