USDBC BEGINS LAUNCH OF WORLD PULSES DAY ACTIVITIES

January 22, 2020

We are gearing up for a big celebration of World Pulses Day (WPD) on February 10, 2020. This includes the preparation of a three part campaign to launch the beautiful and nutritious dry edible bean into the global spotlight as WPD approaches and to encourage everyone around the world, to eat more beans. In mid January we kicked off our bean recipe illustration contest with They Draw & Cook, an online and social media forum founded in 2010 and the internet’s largest collection of illustrated recipes created by artists from around the world. Our bean recipe illustration contest runs through the end of month and we will choose four winners on WPD.

The submissions are rolling in and are featured on both Instagram and on They Draw & Cook‘s (click link) website . This is an exciting, innovative, and fun way to elevate Dry Beans around the world. Later this month we will release a series of short videos telling the story of dry beans in three parts and a blog post and articles by 20 different global social media influencers about all of the amazing properties of US dry beans. Everything will be featured on a new microsite at www.eatusabeans.com (not live yet) and will feature a new hashtag, #TheBeanTeam. Stay tuned as we go live with all of this towards the end of this month. We could not do this without the support from our partners at USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) who have supported this initiative through the Agricultural Trade Program (ATP).
